European Union takes action for the cardiovascular health of its 440 million people

The European Union has just adopted Council Conclusions that are a milestone for cardiovascular health. Cardiovascular disease – the leading cause of death in the EU and globally – affects more than 60 million Europeans and accounts for over 1.7 million deaths annually in the region. The European Alliance for Cardiovascular Health (EACH) and we, as a partner, welcome the Council Conclusions, which reflect key objectives of the EACH Plan, including strengthening primary and secondary prevention, early detection and screening, and optimizing management and rehabilitative care of CVD.
