This series aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in lipid lowering therapies.
The first lecture speaks from a pharmacological standpoint, helping practitioners to make informed decisions in clinical practice and stay updated on advancements in the field.
The second lecture covers the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of lipid lowering therapies from a clinical lipidology perspective
Taken together, understanding gained by participants will ultimately improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the mechanisms of action, efficacy, and safety profiles of emerging lipid-lowering therapies and understand how they differ from established treatment options.
- Evaluate the latest pharmacological advances in lipid management to support evidence-based and informed therapeutic decisions in clinical practice.
- Interpret the evolving clinical role of novel lipid-lowering agents within current dyslipidaemia treatment strategies and guideline-directed care.
- Identify which patients may benefit most from newer lipid-lowering therapies, taking into account cardiovascular risk, lipid phenotype, residual risk, and treatment targets.
- Apply a practical clinical approach to the selection, sequencing, and combination of lipid-lowering therapies in complex or difficult-to-treat patients.
- Recognise current and future developments in precision lipidology, including therapies targeting LDL-C, triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, and lipoprotein(a).
- Integrate new therapeutic knowledge into routine patient management with the aim of improving lipid goal attainment, reducing residual cardiovascular risk, and enhancing long-term patient outcomes.
The e-learning module is primarily intended for healthcare professionals involved in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of dyslipidaemia and cardiovascular risk, particularly those who need up-to-date knowledge on rapidly evolving lipid-lowering treatment options.
This includes in particular:
- physicians specialising in cardiology
- clinical lipidologists
- specialists in internal medicine
- endocrinologists/diabetologists
- healthcare professionals in preventive cardiovascular medicine
- general practitioners/family physicians managing patients with hypercholesterolaemia or mixed dyslipidaemia
- specialist nurses and allied professionals working in lipid clinics or cardiovascular prevention services.
