How the Society is governed

About our Society’s structure & governance

The Society is governed by its by-laws.

The business of the Society is conducted by an Executive Committee, whose members are elected from the Ordinary Membership of the Society. The Society holds an annual Members’ Assembly, usually during the annual Congress, at which the President or Secretary reports on the work done by the Society during the preceding year, and the Treasurer presents a statement of the Society’s accounts. The Executive Committee appoint other committees to handle specific tasks. These committees report to the Executive Committee.

The Society uses its resources to encourage and highlight scientific excellence, and to strengthen research in the field of atherosclerosis by providing opportunities to young, up-and-coming scientists and researchers to launch or progress their international careers.
