Election process and oversight
The EAS elections were held throughout June 2024. Eligibility to vote was based on membership and governed by our constitution. To ensure the reliability and integrity of the election process, several measures were in place:
- Monitoring: The EAS office monitored the election process using IP addresses, geolocation, and ensuring each member could only cast one vote per position.
- Oversight: Two independent adjudicators, the current and immediate past-chairs of the election committee (ELCOM), provided oversight. They reviewed weekly reports, liaised with the EAS office on any irregularities, and followed blinded oversight protocols.
Impact and findings
- The new membership verification system has been crucial in preventing illegitimate votes and significantly increasing transparency.
- We are pleased to report no suspected irregularities during the election period. The process has ensured that only eligible members voted, maintaining the integrity of our elections.
