EAS LCN national webinars on Consensus Statement on harmonisation of lipid clinics

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) remains the leading cause of death worldwide, yet access to optimal lipid management and specialist care is still highly uneven across countries and healthcare systems. Patients with conditions such as familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH), elevated lipoprotein(a), severe hypertriglyceridaemia, and statin intolerance are often underdiagnosed and undertreated.

The EAS Lipid Clinic Network consensus statement provides practical guidance on how lipid clinics can be organised, strengthened, and harmonised. It covers key areas such as education and training, staffing, patient pathways, registries, and healthcare policy, with the aim of improving prevention of ASCVD and supporting more efficient care delivery.

These recommendations will be used in LCN nationally tailored webinars, where they will be adapted to local settings to support implementation in clinical practice.

The statement comes at a critical time, as cardiovascular disease remains a major global burden and access to advanced lipid care varies widely between and within countries.
