Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition, School of Medicine, University of Washington, Seattle, (1991-1993 and 1995-1998), where he was appointed Acting Assistant Professor of Medicine (1999).
American Heart Association (AHA) Fellowship award (1996-97), the 1997 Young Faculty Award of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the Paul Beeson Physician Faculty Scholarship of American Federation For Aging Research (1998-2001), the Merck Young Investigators on Lipid Research Award for outstanding research contribution (1999) and the Award for Outstanding Scientific Contributions (2000 and 2001) from the University of Padua, Italy.
Research interests concentrate on the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis focusing on the mechanisms of atherosclerotic plaque progression/regression, the genetic background leading to lipoprotein abnormalities and new therapeutic options modulating the atherothrombotic process.
He has authored/co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications, 5 book chapters, and has delivered more than 250 invited lectures.
Professor Zambon is currently: member of the national board of the Italian Atherosclerosis Society (SISA) Foundation; member of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS), Gold Heart Member of the AHA and FAHA; member of the International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS). He has been part of the EMA SAG for lipid and lipoproteins related topics.
