Professor Ioanna Gouni-Berthold is an Internist, Endocrinologist and Head of the Lipid Clinic and of the Lipid Research Clinic at the Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Preventive Medicine at the University of Cologne, Germany. Prof. Gouni-Berthold has been ranked as one of the top experts in Endocrinology and Lipid Disorders in Germany as well as a World Expert in Hyperlipidemia. She is an Executive Board Member of the International Atherosclerosis Society and the Vice President and President Elect of the German, Austrian and Swiss Society for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases. She is a member of numerous National and International Societies, serves in the editorial boards of multiple International Journals and served as an Expert-Reviewer of the European Commission Framework Programs on Life Sciences, Genomics and Biotechnology for Health. Her main research interests include lipid and metabolic disorders, lipid-modifying treatments, diabetes and atherosclerosis. She has been serving as Steering Committee member of multiple international pivotal lipid trials. Professor Gouni-Berthold has received numerous awards and her research has been published in Journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet and the JAMA. Her work has been cited in more than 8.000 publications.
