The Anitschkow Lecture 2025: Beyond LDL: inflammation screening and inflammation inhibition for atherosclerotic disease
Featured Open Lecture: September-October 2025
We are pleased to present the 2025 Anitschkow Prize Lecture, delivered by Dr. Paul Ridker, Eugene Braunwald Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
The Anitschkow Prize is the European Atherosclerosis Society’s highest honor, awarded for outstanding contributions to the understanding of atherosclerosis. Over a distinguished career spanning more than three decades, Dr. Ridker has led paradigm-shifting research that has deepened our understanding of cardiovascular risk, introduced new clinical concepts, and shaped international guidelines. His work has also played a key role in advancing clinical trials and therapeutic development across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease.
This lecture, originally presented during the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 EAS Congress in Glasgow, is now available as an open-access event on the EAS platform. We invite you to explore Dr. Ridker’s reflections on a remarkable career that continues to influence research, prevention, and care in cardiovascular medicine.
