Two years ago, when I applied for the EAS Young Fellows programme, I was both curious and excited to be part of such an initiative developed by the European Atherosclerosis Society. However, all my expectations were exceeded by the great program I had become a part of. Although the beginning was timid, with a first tentative meeting on the last day of the EAS Congress in Milan in 2022 where not all members attended, the next few gatherings of the cohort were engaging and stimulating due to the high quality of the presentations as well as the bonds created among participants.
The aim of the programme has been to support young scientists both from a clinical background and basic science to unleash their potential and become future leaders in the field of cardiovascular diseases. I do believe that the initiative was excellent and has managed in a short period of time to reach its purpose.
The first course organized in Vienna in winter 2022 was centered around the Young Fellows presenting their research as well as a few well-chosen international experts in the field of cardiovascular diseases giving talks. This idea was very well implemented because it offered the opportunity to network with peers and discover possible future collaborations. The next meeting was held during the EAS Congress in Mannheim where the Young Fellows organized a session and a poster walk for unmoderated posters, followed by another course in Vienna in January 2024.
All in all, the entire program offered guidance and support to young scientists from different backgrounds, proving to be an enriching experience for all those involved. One drawback was the short duration of the term, which could be extended for future cohorts. I do believe it has been a great opportunity to be part of this program, and I look forward to the next occasions that the “Young Fellows Alumni” will undoubtedly bring.

The EAS Young Fellows Programme has been an invaluable journey, encompassing education, networking, and the forging of meaningful friendships.
The comprehensive curriculum was thoughtfully curated, and it was highly beneficial for Young Fellows to be involved in putting this together to meet our educational needs and interests as a group. Engaging discussions with experts in the field have provided me with a deeper understanding of atherosclerosis research and kept me updated with emerging research in the field.
The programme’s emphasis on fostering collaboration and networking has allowed me to connect with peers (as friends for life!) and established professionals (as long-term mentors) in the field. I appreciate the dedication of the organizers in creating a supportive environment, and I have no doubt that the skills and knowledge gained will significantly contribute to my future endeavors in cardiovascular research.
Many thanks for the opportunity to be a part of the class of ’22-23, and for all the friends and wonderful memories made in the process. I look forward to remaining a part of the EAS family as a member of the Young Fellows Alumni!

I am writing to provide feedback on the EAS Young Fellows Programme of the class of 2022-2023, in which I had the privilege of participating. Overall, my experience has been incredibly enriching, and I would like to share my thoughts and insights with you.
Firstly, I must commend the program for its well-structured curriculum and diverse range of learning opportunities. The theoretical knowledge and practical recommendations in atherosclerosis research provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. The choice of topics, guest lectures, and presentations was thoughtfully curated, contributing to a holistic learning experience.
The mentorship component of the program was particularly valuable. The program organizers were knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in the professional development of the participants. The regular meetings, guidance on projects, and personalized advice significantly enhanced my learning journey.
Another aspect worth highlighting is the collaborative nature of the program. The opportunities to work on group projects, engage in discussions, and network with other EAS Young Fellows from different countries fostered a sense of community and encouraged the exchange of ideas. This collaborative spirit greatly enriched the overall experience and broadened my perspective on various issues in the field.
In conclusion, I am immensely grateful for the opportunities and experiences provided by the EAS Young Fellows Programme. The knowledge acquired, networks established, and personal growth achieved during these two years have undoubtedly set a solid foundation for my future endeavors.
I am happy to remain a part of the EAS family and look forward to seeing the program continue to evolve and positively impact the lives and careers of many more young professionals.
Thank you once again for the invaluable experience.
