Society:

The new membership process is about to start

In a few days, our new membership system will be launched, requiring all applicants, both new and existing individual members, to submit two of the following documents verifying their eligibility based on the criteria outlined in our bylaws:

  • CV
  • Scientific article authored by the applicant
  • Letter showing the applicant’s status of employment or study
  • Letter of recommendation from an existing EAS individual member
  • Congress abstract or a similar document presented by the applicant

The new fees will be as follows:

  • €60 for individuals aged 36 and older
  • €30 for individuals aged 35 and younger

We have ensured that the procedure remains as efficient and straightforward as possible, aiming to eliminate any potential difficulties.

EAS Young Investigator Awards: will you be one of the nominators?

We encourage all EAS individual members to nominate outstanding articles that have contributed to advancing knowledge in the field of atherosclerosis and related metabolic disturbances.

Please be aware that the EAS individual membership is a prerequisite for eligibility in the nomination process. The person nominated must be 40 years or younger on December 31, 2023.

The deadline for nominations is February 5, 2024.

Call for nominations candidates for multiple EC positions, January 16 – February 29

The EAS Executive Committee is the elected governing body responsible for the running of the Society. Its members determine the scientific direction of the Society, and are responsible for strategic planning of EAS activities and the Society’s financial management.

From January 16 to February 29, 2024, all EAS full individual members are invited to nominate their candidates for the following positions on the Executive Committee that will become vacant in January 2025:

– Vice President

– Secretary

– Treasurer-Elect

– Ordinary Member: National Societies

– Ordinary Member: Education

– Ordinary Member: Communication

In 2024, we are looking for enthusiastic and engaged members of EAS who would like to become more closely involved in the organisation of the Society’s activities.

Please note, the candidates should not have any conflict of interest with other international societies, leadership positions or positions as paid employees within the industry with a conflicting interest with the EAS.

The ideal candidate profiles will be made available before the call for nominations opens.

Significant progress was achieved during the last LatAm Meeting in 2023

In late 2023, on December 15, pivotal advancements were made during the LatAm Meeting. This includes the initiation of webinars in English, along with national webinars conducted in the local language, specifically tailored to the scientific requirements of each country.

Inauguration of the second hypertension clinic in Iraq: a milestone in the fight against CVD

The ongoing effort to combat cardiovascular diseases in the MENA region by addressing the underlying risk factors remains in progress.

On December 20, Dr Mutaz Al-Sabah celebrated the opening of the first hypertension clinic in Diwaniya Teaching Hospital, located 180 km south of the capital Baghdad, alongside his colleagues. This clinic marks the second of its kind in Iraq.
