Announcing a new EAS Working Group for Lipid Disorders in Childhood

The EAS is dedicated to finding each and every case of FH globally. To do this in 2015 our current president Prof Kausik Ray FMedSci conceived and initiated the EAS FH Studies Collaboration (FHSC) – the first and only global registry of FH across, which now includes 70 countries and more than 70 000 cases. This is the largest global initiative this century since the MEDPED programme in the 1990s.

Published in the Lancet [1], our work on adults with FH helped influence the call to action and the Prague Declaration for universal screening in childhood. We will never achieve our aims of finding FH without a coordinated approach, together with policy makers and patient advocates.

Today we announce that the EAS will establish a EAS Working Group for Lipid Disorders in Childhood, to cover not just FH but Lp(a) and other lipid disorders. This group will have an official place in each and every EAS annual conference going forward with the first meeting at EAS 2024 in Lyon.
