EAS Announcement re the Position of President-Elect

We congratulate Prof Nordestgaard and thank you, our members, for playing an important part in the working of our society.

The voting period for the position of President-Elect of the EAS closed on 30th June. An unprecedented number of members took part from 69 countries with 980 members voting reflecting a participation rate of 41.7% of members new and old. The adjudicators were satisfied that the results reached an accurate level of reliability and accuracy and declare that Prof Nordestgaard has won the post of President elect of the EAS.

Featured Open Lecture June – July, 2023

Professor Marcello Arca is Head of the Lipid and Atherosclerosis Unit of the University Hospital Policlinico Umberto I in Rome and Professor of internal medicine at the Sapienza University of Rome Italy.

His main field of interest relates to rare primary dyslipidemia. He has made important contributions to the treatment of HoFH, the phenotyping of ANGPTL3 deficiency, and the genotyping of Hyperchylomicronemia.

In this lecture, he provides an overview of the new treatments based on ApoC3 and AngPTL3 inhibition leading to a breakthrough in the treatment of Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome and Multifactorial Chylomicronemia Syndrome.
