Paolo Raggi received his MD degree from the University of Bologna, Italy.
Currently, he is Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada; he is also Director of the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and Chair of Cardiac Research at the University of Alberta. He serves as a consultant for 30 scientific medical publications and sits on the Editorial Board of 3 peer-reviewed medical journals. He is Fellow of the American Heart Association, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the American Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society.
Prof. Raggi has been involved in research on mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney disease, vascular calcification, atherosclerosis imaging, lipid metabolism, diabetes mellitus and the metabolic syndrome. He has contributed over 300 publications to major peer-reviewed journals and 22 chapters for books on cardiovascular imaging and preventive cardiology.
