The Ordinary, non-officer Members on the Executive Committee are elected positions.
Term of office
- The period of service is four years. During a period of four months prior to taking office the newly elected ordinary member will serve as non-voting supernumerary member of the Executive Committee.
- At the conclusion of his/her term of office, the outgoing ordinary member remains a non-voting supernumerary member for four months.
- Ordinary Executive Committee members are not eligible for immediate election to the same position.
Eligibility criteria
- Active EAS member with demonstrated understanding of EAS structure and function.
- Regular attendance at EAS meetings.
- Persons who hold leadership positions as paid employees within conflicting industry or other international organizations/societies with competing interest with the EAS, are not eligible to stand/be nominated.
Responsibilities/duties
- To serve the EAS mission, contribute to the development and implementation of the EAS strategic plan, including;
- Participate in three face to face meetings & three virtual calls per year with the Executive Committee.
- With the other Society Officers, responsibility to plan the Society’s annual budget.
- Collective responsibility for the Society’s finances with other Executive Committee members.
- Participation in the Society’s General Assembly at Congress.
- Uphold the Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics, and other EAS policies.
- To be willing and able to devote a significant portion of their professional time to work for the EAS, including travel commitments.
- Engage in and/or take a leadership role in a designated committee as assigned by the Executive Committee according to specific requirements and needs.
- Holds a position in the Web Education Committee, which is responsible for formulating the annual budget for its activities, with the final proposal requiring approval from the Executive Committee.
Qualifications
- Educational and pedagogical expertise
- Strong background and expertise in educational practices.
- Proven experience in planning and structuring online courses and webinars.
- Applies pedagogical principles to create enriching and interactive learning experiences.
- Course development
- Proficient in strategically planning educational programmes and understanding of effective pedagogical methods.
- Knowledgeable in designing courses with a deep understanding of thematic flow and ability to create engaging and effective educational content and evaluation techniques.
- Possesses a deep understanding of didactics and pedagogy.
- Scientific networking
Has an extensive and robust scientific network. - Nationally/Internationally recognized
Contributing to knowledge dissemination, originality in Atherosclerosis research, with a good scientific record and be a high-profile in his/her field. - Communication skills
Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English. - Leadership roles
Experience as member of a National Society, EAS Committee or another national or international professional organisation.
