EAS Congress Committee

Remit

  • Advice and support congress chairs.
  • Supervise on behalf of the EAS Executive Committee the progress of all aspects of the preparations for congress, including the budget.
  • Handle operative decisions related to the congress organization.
  • Planning and coordination
    The Congress Committee is responsible for the comprehensive planning, organization, and coordination of the annual congress of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS). This includes all logistical aspects such as venue selection, scheduling, and program development. The committee collaborate closely with the Professional Congress Organizers (PCO), delegating certain tasks while providing oversight to ensure seamless execution.
  • Program development
    The committee, together with the Congress Chairs and the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC), oversees the development of the congress program, including selecting plenary speakers, and coordinating abstract submissions and oral/poster/SaaG presentations.
  • Abstract review and selection
    The committee, together with the SPC oversees the review and selection process for abstract submissions. It establishes criteria for evaluation, appoints reviewers, and ensures fairness and transparency in the selection process.
  • Logistics
    Ensuring smooth logistics and operations during the congress is essential. The committee has overview of the PCO that handles matters such as registration, accommodation, catering, transportation, audiovisual support, and onsite facilities to provide a seamless experience for attendees.
  • Continuous improvement
    Continual assessment and refinement of congress planning processes and procedures are essential for ongoing improvement. The committee seeks opportunities to innovate, streamline operations, and enhance the overall quality of the congress year after year.
  • Evaluation
    After the congress, the committee conducts evaluations to assess the overall success of the event. This involves gathering feedback from attendees, faculty, and sponsors to identify areas of improvement and inform future planning efforts.

Appointment of Committee Members

  • The Executive Committee shall appoint the chair and members of the committee.
  • The EAS aims for a balance of gender, expertise and geographical areas throughout Europe when considering candidates for committee members.
