Nominate those who deserve recognition. The call for Anitschkow Prize 2025 nominations is now open!

The nomination period for the prestigious Anitschkow Prize 2025 is now open and will run through October 14, 2024. This esteemed prize, presented annually by the EAS, honors outstanding researchers who have made significant contributions to the field of atherosclerosis and related metabolic disturbances.

Nomination criteria
Eligible nominees should:

  • be recognized for their groundbreaking research in atherosclerosis and related metabolic disturbances.
  • have made outstanding novel contributions that have significantly impacted the discipline.
  • maintain an excellent publication record in the field.
  • be actively engaged in research.

How to nominate
Nominations can be submitted by any full individual EAS member and must be supported by a peer. Each submission will be carefully evaluated by an independent review panel based on the criteria mentioned above.

New insights in the genetics of FH by Prof Mafalda Bourbon

MMafalda Bourbon is a senior researcher at the National Institute of Health in Portugal (INSA), where she serves as the coordinator of the R&D Unit and Head of the Cardiovascular Research Group within the Department of Health Promotion and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases.

As a leading researcher in the field of genetics of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), her work has significantly enhanced the identification, functional characterization, and interpretation of variants found in patients with a clinical diagnosis of FH and other dyslipidemias.

In this lecture, she will explore the most recent advances in the genetic diagnosis of FH.
