Liver and lipids in cardiometabolic syndrome: our official joint session at ESC Congress 2024

We are thrilled to invite you to our official joint session at the ESC Congress 2024 in London, where we will delve into the complex and critical topic of cardiometabolic syndrome.

This session, scheduled for August 31 from 17:30 to 18:30 (London time) aims to enhance understanding of cardiometabolic syndrome, including its definition and why it is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

Our expert speakers will explore the intricate relationships among steatotic liver disease, mixed dyslipidaemia, and isolated hypertriglyceridemia. We will also focus on improving treatment strategies for cardiometabolic syndrome, addressing key questions such as whether there are specific treatments available or if we should concentrate on reducing all known cardiovascular risk factors.

Furthermore, the session will discuss the best approaches to treating cardiometabolic dyslipidaemia. Is the treatment similar to that of other forms of dyslipidaemia, or should there be an added emphasis on lowering plasma triglycerides?

Join us for this enlightening session. We look forward to seeing you in London for this discussion!

Exploring the role of dietary lipids in ASCVD prevention: navigating guidelines

There is still an ongoing debate about the role of dietary lipids in the context of ASCVD prevention although there are clear guidelines for dietary recommendations. All recommendations including Mediterranean, DASH, Portfolio or plant-based diet aim to reduce the intake of unhealthy and to increase intake of healthy lipids. Among unhealthy lipids there are saturated and trans fatty acids; that are commonly found in red and processed meat including sausages, butter and cheese. Healthy lipids are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids commonly found in vegetable and fish oil, seeds, nuts and whole grain products.
