About the Prize
The EAS Anitschkow Prize is the Society’s most prestigious distinction, awarded to outstanding scientists in the area of atherosclerosis and linked metabolic disturbances. Since its inception in 2007, 17 prizes have been awarded to remarkable individuals in this field.
The recipient of the Prize receives the Anitschkow Medal, an award of ten thousand Euros in recognition of their contribution to the study of atherosclerosis, presents the Anitschkow Lecture as part of the Opening Ceremony at EAS Congress, and is invited to write a review for the Society’s Journal, Atherosclerosis.
2024 Anitschkow Prize
The 2024 Anitschkow Prize was awarded to Prof Bart Staels from France for his groundbreaking research on nuclear receptors in metabolic and cardiovascular
disease, significantly advancing therapeutic options.
Anitschkow Prize 2025
Call for nominations for the 2025 Anitschkow Prize closed October 14, 2024.
The winner will be announced January 2025.
Nomination Process
Criteria
Nominees should fulfill these criteria:
- Recognised for his/her research in the area of atherosclerosis and linked metabolic disturbances
- Has made outstanding novel contributions to and an impact on the discipline to date
- Has an excellent track record of publications in the atherosclerosis area
- Is currently an active researcher
Eligibility
- Candidate nominations may be submitted by an EAS member, and should be supported (seconded) by a peer
- Candidate nominations will be evaluated by an independent review panel, according to the criteria given above
Review
- The Society’s Executive Committee will evaluate whether a nominees meets the criteria of eligibility
- Eligible nominations will be reviewed by the independent Anitschkow Jury
